Maginon Smart Tag Duo

Smart Tag is an intelligent tracking device that uses Google's Find My Device service and is paired with the "Google Find My Device" app on Android devices, or with the Find My app and the Find My Community on iOS devices.
All location information remains private, and not even Google or Apple have access to it.

Before you begin:

- Smart Tag only supports the "Google Find My Device" app. Please make sure to download and install this app from the "Play Store" before use.

- The device is only compatible with Android devices running Android 􏚺 or higher. Maginon Smart Tag Duo does not support Huawei devices.

- Once the Smart Tag is paired with a device, it is locked and cannot be paired with another device. The device supports only one of the two options: Apple Find My app and Google Find Device app. You can choose the configuration method for the network yourself.

Android Installation:

  1. Make sure that Bluetooth and your phone's network are turned on.
  2. Press the push button 5 times to turn on the Smart Tag (a beep will sound).
  3. Bring the Maginon Smart Tag Duo close to your Android device and wait for the "Smart Tag Duo" pop-up window to appear.
    (Note: If no pop-up appears, please restart your phone and try again).
  4. Tap "Connect", read and accept the prompts to complete the pairing.
  5. In the "Google Find My Device" app, select "Smart Tag" to customize the device's name and category.
  6. When the device is turned on and not waiting for pairing, press and hold the push button for a few seconds and a beep will sound.
  7. When the Maginon Smart Tag Duo is turned on and the push button is pressed five times in a row, a beep sounds to indicate a restart.
  8. When the device is turned on and the button is pressed for 12 seconds, a beep sounds. Double-click the push button to restore the factory settings.

What is the Google Find my Device Network and how does it work?

The "Find my Device" network allows Android users to locate their devices and tags through a network. It uses location data from other registered Android smartphones worldwide to find lost or stolen devices. Only the users themselves can view the location data. Additionally, there are various options for participating in the network to maximize privacy. Users can choose whether their device should be reported only in high-traffic areas or everywhere.

Open the battery cover on the back of the Smart Tag and remove the battery.

iOS Installation:

  1. Remove the insulating film [6] from the battery of the tag to turn it on, and place it near your iOS device.
    Note: The device supports the Apple Find My app and the Tuya Smart Life app
  2. Turn on the Bluetooth of your iOS device. Make sure that the latest version is installed on your iOS device.
  3. Open the Find My app, tap on "Items," and then tap on "Add Item." Select "Other Supported Item" and follow the instructions in the app to complete the pairing.
  4. For later pairing with other items, tap "+" and then tap "Add another item" to perform a pairing.
    Note: To ensure an optimal user experience, please update the firmware as soon as the update is available in the Find My app.

What is the iOS Find My network and how does it work?

The Apple Find My network offers a simple and secure way to locate compatible personal items on a map by using the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Simply pair your compatible product with the Apple Find My app to display the location directly on your Apple devices. If your item ever gets lost, you can put it into "Lost" mode to show a message and contact information to anyone who might find it. The Find My network is encrypted and anonymous, so no one, not even Apple or Tuya, can view the device's location.

Disabling the Apple Find My Network

Open the battery cover on the back of the Smart Tag and remove the battery.

Main functions of the Smart Tag:

  • Search nearby

In the app "Google Find My Device," select your Maginon Smart Tag Duo and tap "Play Sound" to find your device. Once it has been found, tap "Stop Sound" to mute the device.

  • Long-distance search

In the "Google Find My Device" app, select your Maginon Smart Tag Duo and tap on the device to display its location. To navigate to the location, tap "Directions" to open the map navigation.

  • Activate Lost Mode

In the "Google Find My Device" app, select your Maginon Smart Tag Duo and tap "Mark as lost." Add your contact information. You will be notified when the "Find My Device" network locates your Smart Tag Duo.

  • Smart Tag Share Location
    In the app "Google Find My Device," select your Maginon Smart Tag Duo and then tap on "Share device."


Battery replacement:

Turn the battery cover in the direction of the arrow labeled "OPEN".

Insert a tool (approx. 1mm screwdriver) into the gap and lift the battery cover 3] Remove the old battery and insert a new button cell battery (standard button cell battery CR2032) with the positive pole facing upwards.

Turn the battery cover in the direction of the arrow labeled "CLOSE" and let it snap into place.

The battery life is usually one year. (If two apps are paired simultaneously, the battery life is usually six months).

  1. Turn the battery cover counterclockwise.
  2. Insert a narrow object into the slot and pry open the battery cover.
  3. Replace the battery with a new battery of the same type
  4. Close the battery cover by turning it clockwise until the battery cover clicks into place.

Reset to factory settings:

In these cases, the Smart Tag must be reset:

  • If the Smart Tag needs to be paired with a new account and there is no access to the old account
  • If the original account for the Smart Tag was removed in the app and the Smart Tag was not deleted from the account

The steps to reset to factory settings are as follows:

  • Hold down the device's button for about 12 seconds until the device beeps once.
  • Then immediately press the device button twice, after which the device will beep twice, and finally release the button.
  • The Smart Tag is now back to its factory settings

How secret tracking with the Maginon Smart Tag Duo is prevented or displayed.

If a Maginon Smart Tag Duo that is not linked to your Apple ID or Google Find My Device follows you, an acoustic signal will sound from the Smart Tag after a certain period of time when the Smart Tag is moved. This allows you to locate the Smart Tag.

When can the device be located?

If the Maginon Smart Tag Duo, or the item it is attached to, is separated from its owner for a certain period of time, it can be found by other Apple and Android devices that are part of the respective network. The owner can then start to determine the location of the device.

How will I be notified when my lost item is found in the Apple or Android network?

If an accessory of the Apple Find My or Google Find My Device network, which has been separated from its owner, is detected and moving with you, you will be notified as follows: The network sends a notification to your device logged into the network.
